Community arts warehouse 2002-2013 – Founding collective member (2001/2).

Irene Warehouse is a double story inner city ex lingerie factory that has been running as a community arts space since 2002. The massive double story building is home to a circus space, audio recording studio and over 30 artist studios. It is used for meetings, benefit gigs, community kitchens and all kinds of creative and political events.

Established by a collective of around 20 people in 2001 (after a year of scouring Melbourne for options) the Irene runs on consensus decision making and strong community values.

It is remarkable that it has been going for over 10 years! Huge kudos to those who have kept it running against all the odds and provided a much needed inner city venue and creative space for so so many diverse projects and groups.
